Hold Fast to Dreams

If you ever feel that God has forgotten about you, He has not. The feeling of inadequacy and unworthiness is of the enemy. You are more than worthy to fulfill your purpose. Holy Spirit will bring back to your remembrance, you are worth it! I pray you are encouraged to keep your hope and dreams alive! Hold fast to your dreams and your prophetic word.

On Wednesday, April 28, 2021, my friend Mel reminded me of a dream. I made a couple of posts on Snapchat about a new episode that I did. On the post, I included the link for the podcast, so that they could just swipe up on it. She messaged me asking if it was also available on Apple Podcast. After we had a couple of laughs about “brain farts” she had, she said to me “Girl, I’m over here blushing cause I remember when I said you should have your own talk show. We did it joe!” That was the biggest confirmation yet! And soon as I read her message, my mind went back four years ago, to the exact day she said that to me.

So, the way it all started, she and I served together (US Army) in South Korea. When I arrived at Korea, I remember the feeling of “I don’t know anyone in my company”, “I am new here”, “I am in a completely different country than my family”. All these thoughts were going through my head, and I was a little scared. One day, we formed up (in formation) right outside of the barracks (housing for soldiers), and there was Melerny! I was so excited to see her. A familiar face, someone I knew prior to getting to Korea. When I tell you we connected, it was like friendship at first sight. She is a straight shooter, honest, loyal and, such a good friend. We went everywhere together; we had each other’s back. One day, I went live on Facebook. She thought it was so funny and always told me how I was longwinded. I started going live so often that I named my live “The Lowery Show” each time I went live. It was something fun for me; just something I enjoyed doing. It seemed after a while, that there were people counting on me going live each day. Some just needed a laugh, some just needed encouragement, some just needed to know someone else was thinking about them. I vividly remember one girl commenting on the live video saying, “You will one day keep someone from jumping off the ledge.” At that moment, I just thought of it as a really really good compliment. Now, I know that to have been a prophetic word. Whether she knew it or not, and I did not recognize it at the time, it was. I was always going live from “The Lowery Show” in South Korea. My friend, Mel, told me you should get your own show. She laughed about it but, she was so serious. I even went live from her phone sometimes, so that, her followers could see me.

I want to encourage someone, hold fast to your dreams. Pay attention to those words that you deem just a laughing moment. Never doubt yourself and say that will never happen. My particularly good friend, my bestie Mel, spoke a prophetic word four years ago. Neither of us knew it at the time, in 2017, that I would be a blogger and podcaster. God will send you who you need when you need them. What is the best part of this story? I was totally out of the will of God at the moment my life was spoken over but, God still allowed my calling to come to pass. Although I did not hear Him, could not hear Him, did not know it was Him speaking, He still allowed me another chance to respond to my calling. In Habakkuk 2:2-3 it says, “And the Lord answered me: “Write the vision; make it plain on tablets, so he may run who reads it. For still the vision awaits its appointed time; it hastens to the end—it will not lie. If it seems slow, wait for it; it will surely come; it will not delay.” What is for you, is for you. There is no human on this earth that can take away God’s will for your life. Even in your mess, He can and will still use you. Do not be dismayed, because God is still running after you. He is waiting for you to accept Him. The word says, “Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with that person, and they with me” (Revelation 3:20, NIV). Be encouraged on today! Here is a poem by Langston Hughes that my Elementary teacher Joetta Maxwell always had us to recite,

Hold fast to dreams
For if dreams die
Life is a broken-winged bird
That cannot fly.

Hold fast to dreams
For when dreams go
Life is a barren field
Frozen with snow.
